Here’s some news about me: I’m writing a book. No book deal, no funding yet, but where there’s a will, there’s a goddamn way: I’m writing a book on mutual aid across America. It’s been a plan of mine forever, to write this book, and I figured this time, a time when mutual aid efforts across the country are flourishing, was a good time to start researching.
So I’m conducting interviews with mutual aid practitioners across the country, as many as I can find, and here’s an excerpt of an interview with Kit Cali, of Boston DSA, where she explains why traditionally feminized labor, like administrative labor, is as important (or more important!) than the sexier, more “masculine” work of community self defense.
We’ll be back with regularly scheduled dispatches on Sunday.
Enjoy!
I can't believe I never thought to consider administrative labor as care work until now. It seems so obvious
